Kipling Street is closed between 10th Avenue and Colfax Avenue, CDOT reports.
A gas-line break is being repaired, but the Colorado Department of Transportation expects Kipling to remain closed at least through the evening rush hour.
Lakewood Police anticipate that the closure will last at least four hours and could take as many as 10.
