Longmont – A standoff that lasted more than five hours ended at 9:45 tonight when a police robot found a man’s body in apartment.
Police had surrounded an apartment complex in northwest Longmont after random shots were fired at several cars about 4:10 p.m.
Four blocks around The Shores apartment complex in the upscale neighborhood were been blocked off and two buildings were been evacuated, including the building where a suspect, identified as Douglas Fedorock, 36, was believed to be hiding.
Before 9:45 p.m., Longmont police fired tear gas into the apartment and sent in the robot.
No injuries were reported from the afternoon gunshots, but two of the shots struck an unoccupied car outside the building.
The owner of the car did not know Fedorock, leading police to believe it was not targeted.
Fedorock had not threatened the police by 8:15 p.m., but he also would not answer the door or the bullhorn commanding him to come out.
“We don’t know what he’s mad about; he won’t talk to us,” said Cmdr. Tom Fixmer of the Longmont Police Department.
