BOULDER, Colo.—Kamile Nacickaite scored 13 points Wednesday night to send Regis-Jesuit to the Class 5A title game with a 49-31 victory over Chaparral at the Coors Events Center.
Regis (25-2) will play two-time defending champion and Continental League rival Highlands Ranch for the crown on Friday night.
Leading 40-31 with 4:54 to play, Nacickaite converted a pair of free throws to begin a 9-0 run that sealed the win for Regis.
Diana Rolniak scored 11 points and Mariah Williams added 10 for the Raiders, whose only in-state loss this year came against Highlands Ranch, a 74-49 drubbing last month.
Regis’ other loss came in the third game of the season against Notre Dame Academy in Virginia.
Chaparral (22-5), a No. 1 seed from Parker, which also plays in the Continental League, trailed the entire game, drawing no closer than its nine-point deficit before Nacickaite hit her free throws midway through the fourth quarter.
Chaparral, which shot an abysmal 18.6 percent from the field, including 0-for-13 from 3-point range, had no scorers in double figures, but was led by four players with six points apiece: Jazmin Evans, Kaylee Rommel, Morgan Smith and Alyssa McGuinnis.
Top-seeded Regis led 19-10 at the half.
The Raiders raced to a 13-0 lead highlighted by Williams’ four points.
Chaparral finally managed to get on the board when Samantha Martin scored with 10.9 seconds to play in the first quarter, and the Warriors trailed 13-2.
The girls Class 5A title game begins at 8 p.m. on Friday at CU.
