GREELEY, Colo.—The death of a Greeley man accused of killing his girlfriend is being attributed to natural causes.
Weld County coroner’s officials say 51-year-old Dennis Sierra died Sunday at North Colorado Medical Center.
He had been charged with first-degree murder after deliberation in the death of 43-year-old Karen Petersen. She was shot twice on December 16th in an apartment she shared with Sierra.
A daughter says the two were not married, but had lived together for many years and had two children.
Sierra was being held without bond. He was scheduled to enter a plea April 29th.
