A small Black Hawk casino has agreed to shut down after regulators accused its operator of failing to maintain proper accounting records and pay taxes on time.
The Eureka casino, which has 115 slot machines, will close by the end of March, the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission said Thursday.
Eureka’s owner, Daniel Cooper, also agreed not to apply for a business gaming license for five years.
Regulators said Eureka was delinquent on thousands of dollars in gaming and property taxes last year. They also alleged that Eureka may have accessed a $25,000 escrow account that regulators had required the casino to set up to pay jackpots to patrons.
The Eureka had a net loss of $488,439 in 2007, according to the commission.
