Q: After 11 seasons in the NBA, how is it being a radio guy for your alma mater?
A: It challenges a part of my brain that might not get challenged otherwise, because of how quickly you have to respond to things.
Q: How much different is the college game from the NBA?
A: As I consider going into coaching, it’s kind of tough knowing if I want to do it at the collegiate level or the NBA level, cause this is so much fun.
Q: Do you get back often?
A: We’ve retained some strong ties here. We’re trying to figure out, as we go evening by evening, how we can get a chance to see some of our friends here. . . . My brother- in-law flew from Colorado to South Bend to watch our four children so my wife (Jennifer) and I could have some time together.
Q: What do you like best about the current Nuggets?
A: I’ve always loved Marcus Camby. He’s capable any night of a triple-double nontraditionally. He gets no kudos from around the league for what he does.
Q: Best part about covering Notre Dame basketball?
A: Just being around the kids. . . . Coming back from a tournament this year, there was a seating situation where the guys wanted me to take the better seat. . . . Six or seven of the older guys were like, ‘You’re the former star, you should take that spot.’ I told them it was the opposite way and you guys are the future stars. I used my seniority to get Luke Zeller into that spot.
