DENVER—Berry Petroleum Co. says it plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Bakersfield in California to Denver this summer.

A regional office will stay in Bakersfield. Fewer than 15 of Berry’s roughly 150 California employees are expected to be involved in relocation.

Berry expects to add 25 employees in Denver from the relocation.

CEO Robert Heinemann says the company’s California business is strong, but its business activity has increased significantly in the Rockies over the last four years.

He says Denver is a well-recognized business center for energy companies and that the company wants to be in an area that presents more growth opportunities.

Berry currently has 270 people in California, Colorado and Utah.
