KEYSTONE, Colo.—The Summit County coroner says an Indianapolis woman who died after a hard fall on her buttocks at Keystone Ski Resort suffered irreversible brain damage.

Coroner Joanne Richardson says the type of injury 28-year-old Jennifer Ash suffered can happen when there is a whipping motion of the neck.

She says Ash fell March 16 and died Sunday night after she was declared brain dead. Friends had taken her to a hospital, where doctors determined Ash suffered a “vertebral artery dissection” that led to a stroke.

Ash was a pharmacist and was in Colorado with friends for a vacation.
