Dillard’s Inc. agreed to pay $500,000 and give workers and managers anti-sexual-harassment training to settle a lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Tuesday.

The agency brought the suit on behalf of 12 female former employees, some of whom said they were harassed at a store in Palmdale, Calif., and others later at a Westminster store by the same man, the EEOC said in a statement.

Dillard’s didn’t tell the Westminster store about the accusations, the agency said. The man was accused of two incidents in Colorado and then fired, according to the EEOC.

“By failing to notify the Colorado store about this man’s sexual harassment in California at the time of his transfer to Colorado, Dillard’s permitted its Westminster employees to go in harm’s way,” EEOC trial attorney Sandra Padegimas said.
