A driver was killed early today when he was thrown out of the sunroof of his tumbling SUV into the road, where he was run over by three vehicles.

The Colorado State Patrol isn’t identifying the man, except to say he is 37, while still trying to contact his next of kin, following the about 2:15 a.m. in Clear Creek County.

The man was driving a Ford Explorer west on Interstate 70 when he lost control.

Investigators believe he was traveling too fast for the snowy conditions. He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected, according to investigators.

One car, a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero, rolled and crashed after running over the body.

The driver of the Montero suffered only minor injuries.

The two other vehicles that hit the body did not stop, the State Patrol said.

One passer-by called 911 to report that there were “rocks on the road.”
