EULESS, Texas — American Airlines’ flight attendants union said Tuesday it wants company executives to defer their bonuses. The Association of Professional Flight Attendants is distributing tags to its 19,000 members that will hang just below each attendant’s ID. The tags say “decline” on one side and “resign” on the other.

The union said that if American’s five senior executives don’t agree by April 15 to defer the next round of bonuses, the attendants will flip the tags and demand their resignations. The union says the company’s executive bonuses the last five years have totaled nearly $300 million.

Executives must turn down the money, union president Laura Glading said in a news release, “otherwise they’ll have lost the moral authority to lead this company, and should resign their positions.” The Associated Press
