A Weld County man was killed tonight when he and his friend rolled over in a dune buggy in a flat, grassy field near Ault.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Department was still investigating this evening after the 7:30 p.m. accident, said Margie Martinez, Weld County’s undersheriff.
It appears the driver of the dune buggy, a 36-year-old man, turned the wheel too sharply and caused it to flip over.
He was killed instantly. His 45-year-old passenger was airlifted to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley with serious injuries, Martinez said.
Two people saw the accident, she said.
The accident happened on private property — owned by one of the men, Martinez said — near Weld County Road 23 and Colorado Highway 14.
