GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A pregnant woman who was gunned down had requested to lift a restraining order against the man suspected of killing her.
Police say 23-year-old Anna Maria Macias was shot in front of her two children next to a Grand Junction apartment complex. Police arrested Macias’ boyfriend, 39-year-old Lonnie Ray Herrera, in connection with the Sunday night killing.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel is reporting Macias asked a judge last week to vacate a restraining order placed against Herrera after he allegedly assaulted her in February. The judge denied her request.
Doctors delivered Macias’ baby via Caesarean section. Macias was more than 8 months pregnant. Police say doctors are unsure if the baby will live.
