Another brush fire ignited around Rep. Douglas Bruce, R-Colorado Springs, on Tuesday when he handed out campaign fliers that attack his opponent in this year’s Republican primary.
Early Tuesday morning, Bruce placed the fliers on the office desks of several House Republicans. The fliers contrast Bruce to his primary opponent, Mark Waller.
Several lawmakers said they found the Capitol campaigning in poor taste.
House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, D-Denver, said he met with Bruce and the legislature’s legal counsel to determine if the campaigning broke any laws. They determined it did not, but Romanoff said he urged Bruce not to repeat it.
