Talli Hansen, Eads
A year ago, Eads center Talli Hansen was named Ms. Colorado Basketball. It was a highlight, but not enough. She wanted another one.
With her play this year, she was able to repeat as the best Class 1A girls basketball player.
The 6-foot-1 senior center was the catalyst for the Eagles this season, leading Eads to its second consecutive state championship. Hansen capped her season with 28 points in the 59-37 win over Briggsdale in the state final. En route, she earned tournament MVP honors.
With her team’s goal secured, all Hansen had left to accomplish was individual awards.
“It means a lot. I wanted the first one, getting it as a junior,” Hansen said. “But then I wanted it again. It drove me to work harder.”
Hansen scored 62 points during the three-day state tournament at the Air Force Academy to help Eads to its ninth state title.
So, what was different this time around as opposed to last year?
“We just came together more as a team,” Han- sen said.
And, as a result, Hansen enjoyed another successful season. A great way to cap a career.
