Jessica Giltner, Holy Family
It’s become popular in recent years to say that a certain player can make those around him/her better.
“She just makes those around her shine,” Holy Family coach Ron Rossi said of Jessica Giltner.
Giltner was vital in the Tigers’ run to the state title. While others may have flashier numbers, Giltner did what she needed to make winners out of the Tigers.
Twice this year, Giltner was within two steals of having a triple-double.
For the season, Giltner led Holy Family with 15.8 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.
In her four years, Giltner had never beaten Faith Christian. In her final prep game against those pesky Eagles, Giltner scored 11 points, and had six rebounds and two steals, winning the state title 38-33 in a defensive affair.
“Her theory was, if I’m playing this hard, everybody else better play hard too,” Rossi said.
