Anna Prins, Broomfield
Anna Prins will always stand out in a crowd. Being a 6-foot-6 junior will do that. But height doesn’t mean anything in basketball if you can’t use it and withstand the pressure and basketball truisms it brings.
Prins did all that with a steady ease as she helped lead Broomfield to its second consecutive Class 4A state title. She led the talented and deep Eagles in scoring, which is a big reason her 14 points per game don’t make your jaw drop. She rebounded as expected, blocked shots and ran the floor when needed.
Perhaps more important, Prins was as calm as the smile that effortlessly creeps across her face.
Prins didn’t play every minute because she didn’t have to. The Eagles (27-1) were that good. However, if the talent of 4A went into a lottery, Prins would reign as top pick.
She stands out, whether she’s blocking a shot, grabbing rebound or just walking on the floor.
