Reggie Jackson, Palmer

There will be no candy bar named after him, but Palmer’s Reggie Jackson, Mr. Colorado Basketball in the 2007-08 season, was a sugary-sweet senior guard with a delicious game.

At 6-feet-4, his ball-handling was as good as — or better than — any guard’s in Colorado. So was his shooting range and free-throw prowess.

Big shots? Jackson converted them in games as easily as in warm-ups or when playing H-O-R-S-E.

Ups? Jackson surely had two of the better dunks of the season with a one-hander in traffic against Gateway in the playoffs and a 360-degree breakaway in the Nuggets’ Show All-Star Game. It’s no wonder he also averaged nearly eight rebounds.

“He’s physically gifted unlike anybody else,” Palmer coach Jimmy Grantz said after Jackson was named Colorado’s Gatorade player of the year. “He’s the most athletic player in the state, and the skill set that he has to go along with that athleticism is amazing. His work ethic, his attitude and his commitment to his teammates are equal to his athleticism. To me, that’s rare.”

After averaging 29.6 points, Jackson will head to Boston College.
