Alyssa Fressle, Highlands Ranch
The force that is Alyssa Fressle, Ms. Colorado Basketball in the 2007-08 season, was unmistakable in power and accomplishment.
At 5-foot-10, the Highlands Ranch senior played wherever she felt like, and it’s because she could — her strength and athleticism were modified by all-around skill and knowledge, and her motor seemed to be from the American muscle-car era, even if it appeared to run as efficiently as a hybrid.
She played nice with teammates in averaging nearly four assists, but didn’t against opponents, averaging nearly four steals.
As the best player on the past two Class 5A championship teams, Fressle has helped extend the Falcons’ run, including the past three, to six big-school titles in nine seasons.
An all-state honorable-mention player as a sophomore and All-Colorado as a junior, Fressle’s series individually wasn’t as important to her as her team’s. She fouled out late in the finale against Regis with the game in the balance, but kept her chin up.
“When I was coming out, I got so down, but you can’t do that,” said Fressle, who will join the Colorado Buffaloes next season.
