LOVELAND, Colo.—A Windsor police officer who was dragged about 70 feeet while trying to stop a man from driving the wrong way as he left an arena was released from a hospital Saturday.
The officer, whose identity has not been released, had serious but non life-threatening injuries, Loveland police Sgt. John Spreitzer said.
The officer was working traffic outside a Harlem Globetrotters show Friday at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland when a driver shouted at him that he wanted to turn left where traffic cones forced cars right.
The driver argued with the officer before turning left anyway. The officer tried to stop the car by reaching in the window and turning off the car. He was dragged about 70 feet, Spreitzer said.
Another officer who saw what happened arrested the driver. Richard Schwartzenberger, 38, of Windsor, could face charges including vehicular assault, reckless driving, resisting arrest and driving under the influence.
