The Rockies’ bad start got even worse tonight with the news that setup man Luis Vizcaino is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.

The right-hander started throwing in the bullpen in the seventh inning but never entered the game as the Rockies fell 7-2 to Arizona. After the game, the club announced that Vizcaino has a strained right shoulder and will be placed on the disabled list. Taking his place will be right-hander Ryan Speier, who was called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

The Rockies signed Vizcaino as a free agent during the offseason, giving him a two-year, $7.5 million contract.
