The Denver Police Department on Monday identified the armed man shot and killed at his home by SWAT team members Friday as Nathan Aguillard, 26.

The officers who shot him are Ronald Fox and Thomas McKibben, both 21-year veterans of the department, said police. The shooting happened at Aguillard’s second-floor apartment at 4754 Peoria St.

Police said Aguillard had a gun when officers came to arrest him Friday morning on a warrant and to search his apartment at the Villages at Gateway. Police found drugs and weapons in the apartment.

Neighbors said Monday night they did not know Aguillard well. He was social but rarely invited neighbors to his gatherings, they said.

“He was friendly enough to say hi,” said Hector Ramos, who lives with his girlfriend near Aguillard’s building.
