WHEAT RIDGE, Colo.—Wheat Ridge officials say Fire Chief Jim Payne is in critical condition in a medically induced coma after falling from a ladder at home.
Fire Marshal Doug Saba says Payne fell while trimming a tree. Saba says doctors induced a coma to help stabilize his condition.
Payne has been a member of the Wheat Ridge department for more than 14 years.
