CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—A Castle Rock author who recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show has learned he’s being signed by one of the country’s largest book publishing companies.

And Alec Greven is just 9.

HarperCollins Children’s Books is set to publish Alec’s book, “How to Talk to Girls,” this fall. It will expand on the 10-page book Alec has already written, and include more than two dozen black and white illustrations.

Alec says the book is designed to help boys with crushes. He wrote it after observing boys and girls on the playground at Soaring Hawk Elementary School in Castle Rock.

When HarperCollins Children’s Books publishes Alec’s work, he’ll join the ranks of famous authors such as C.S. Lewis, Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Dickens and Edgar Allan Poe.
