Fifteen thousand more people than initially estimated will come to Denver for the Democratic National Convention, organizers say. Leah Daughtry, the chief executive of the Democratic National Convention Committee, told City Council members Monday that the new estimate is 50,000, up from the original estimate of 35,000. That includes delegates, media and others. It does not account for protesters. Daughtry said the historic nature of the convention, where either the first woman or the first black man is due to become a major-party nominee, is driving up attendance.
