A new hotline is being launched for Coloradans who suspect they’ve been stopped by police because of racial profiling.
About a dozen community activists gathered in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood Tuesday to announce the Colorado Racial Profiling and Police Discrimination Hotline. The hotline is a project of the Colorado Progressive Coalition, a 12-year-old nonprofit group that claims 5,500 members.
Coloradans, including pedestrians, who feel they’ve been stopped by police based on racial discrimination can call the toll-free hotline at 1-866-329-0908 or 303-654-4109.
Hotline staffers, who will include Spanish speakers, will help callers with information on how to file official complaints and how to identify legal resources. They are not attorneys and will not provide legal advice.
