Denver International Airport had a record 3.8 million passengers in February, up 8.9 percent from the same month of 2007.

Leap Year inflated the figure, DIA acknowledged. But without the extra day, traffic was up 5.1 percent.

The number of flights at DIA grew 7.4 percent in February compared with a year ago.

In a separate report, the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics said DIA was the fourth-busiest airport in the month of January, on par with its ranking a year earlier. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International was the busiest airport.
