State Sen. Tom Wiens, a Castle Rock Republican who last year had been talked about as a potential replacement for U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, announced Thursday that he won’t pursue another term.
Wiens said he hoped to devote more time to his businesses — he works in corporate finance and is involved in horse and cattle ranching — and spend more time with his family.
“I remain committed to working with you to help make Colorado the best possible place to live,” he wrote in a letter to supporters thanking them for their backing over the years.
Wiens didn’t rule out a run for higher office.
“You never know what’s going to happen in the future,” he said.
