Frontier stations were fully staffed at Denver International Airport this morning and employees were on hand to guide fliers.
Customer service agent Jerome Staversky said Frontier informed employees about the bankruptcy filing at 5 a.m., just as everyone was checking in for the day.
“The reason makes a lot of sense,” he said. “We are being forced in some ways.”
He said he had been telling customers about the issue and most were understanding and expressed support for the airline.
Brian and Holly Bradley of Breckenridge were catching a flight to Los Angeles to visit her parents.
The couple says they fly Frontier at least four times a year.
“They have consistently been a good airline. They have good direct flights out of Denver,” said Holly Bradley, 31. “If they keep continuing to fly, I will fly them.”
Dinah Richardson, 60, a teacher from Arvada, was flying to Milwaukee, then on to Connecticut for a wedding.
“I’m a little concerned, but I think it’s just a business operation. I don’t think it is affecting flights.”
Richardson said she will continue to use the airline. “I’m sure the fuel cost is getting to them as well as to the rest of us.”
