Comments posted online expressed deep support for Frontier Airlines on Friday after word of the company’s bankruptcy hit the Web.
One poster promised to still buy tickets for a business trip, and another created a “Save Frontier Airlines” Face book page and asked others to join.
“Frontier is a great airline and I will continue to support them so that they can make it through this,” Cos wrote. “In fact, last week I applied for the Frontier MasterCard and I and my co-worker are purchasing tickets for a business trip on Frontier today.”
Comments posted on denverpost included total support for the airline and plans to continue flying with Frontier as well as the bashing of First Data, the airline’s credit-card processor, which held back customer receipts from Frontier, thereby threatening the airline’s cash flow and prompting its bankruptcy filing.
“I’ll do my part and buy a ticket to LA in Sept. I hope it’s good at that time. This really is a good airline,” wrote G.W.
Other thoughts included the outlandish — building casinos at the airport to support DIA in lieu of airline money — as well as discouragement about the demise of the airline industry and the role of Southwest Airlines in Frontier’s situation.
“If Coloradans wish to continue having a ‘hometown airline,’ then we need to support it; that means instead of paying $139 to fly round trip to Phoenix without a seat assignment on Southwest, pay $139 to fly with a seat assignment on Frontier. If Frontier goes away, the cost to fly to Phoenix or other cities will double,” wrote JH. “Support Frontier Airlines.”
Legaleagle3 blamed salaries paid to Frontier executives.
“This is what (Frontier) deserves after grossly overcompensating its execs while the company continually lost value,” legaleagle3 wrote. “Serves you right, losers.”
Others credit the company for thousands of jobs in the region and expressed hope that the company will continue.
“Frontier provides hundreds of very well-paying professional jobs and thousands more to the area. They are the carrier I fly most and will continue to do so,” wrote Steven. “Although they will be an acquisition target for the foreseeable future, I expect the Denver presence to remain very high.”
