As the draft approaches, the cuts have begun at Dove Valley.
Antwon Burton was the first to make room as the Broncos waived the defensive tackle Monday. An undrafted free agent from Temple in 2006, Burton had played in seven games the past two seasons.
The Broncos are now down 79 players on their 80-man roster, but must make room from nine draft picks and their usual five to seven college free agents.
Also, the Broncos have set their kickoff times and dates for their four preseason games. Their full regular-season schedule will be announced Tuesday.
The Broncos’ preseason schedule:
Saturday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m. at Houston.
Saturday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. vs. Dallas at Invesco Field at Mile High.
Friday, Aug. 22, 7 p.m. vs. Green Bay at Invesco Field.
Friday, Aug. 29, 7 p.m. at Arizona.
As to their regular season, the Broncos already know they will open Monday night, Sept. 8, at Oakland with kickoff at 8:15 p.m. MDT.
