Getting your player ready...

SAN DIEGO — The expectations have changed, but the results have not. When Matt Holliday struggled for five games, hand-wringing began. Any concern over his slow start was alleviated as he won National League Player of the Week honors today.

Holliday led the league a .480 average (12-for-25) and 10 RBIs. Holliday helped break the Rockies’ five-game losing streak last Monday with a late-inning home run off Atlanta’s Blaine Boyer. Holliday, who is hitting cleanup this season, leads the Rockies with 11 RBIs. No one else on the team has more than six.

Holliday receives a Swiss watch from Tourneau in recognition of his accomplishment. Other nominees included Arizona’s Mark Reynolds, Houston’s Lance Berkman and Florida’s Hanley Ramirez.
