ASPEN—A committee of elected officials has voted to add free bus service between Aspen and Snowmass Village next winter, on top of free service planned for this summer.
The services would constitute a continued “trial run” for permanent, free bus service between the resorts.
The free service on Roaring Fork Transportation Authority buses would begin June 29 and end in mid-April 2009.
The Elected Officials Transportation Committee, made of representatives of Aspen, Snowmass Village and Pitkin County, voted unanimously for the service, which would be subsidized with sales tax revenue.
Aspen Skiing Co. currently subsidizes free skier shuttles between the resorts during ski season, but the shuttles have limited hours.
