BOULDER—Freshman Caleb Patterson is leaving the University of Colorado basketball team.
Coach Jeff Bzdelik said Monday that Patterson asked to be released from his scholarship.
Patterson, a 6-foot-11 center/forward averaged 1.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 14 games and one start for the Buffaloes last season.
“We are disappointed that Caleb has elected to leave our program,” Bzdelik said. “Caleb is a special young man that we think highly of and we wish him nothing but the best for his future endeavors.”
Patterson will finish the spring semester at the Boulder campus before transferring to another school.
