A prescribed burn is planned today at White Ranch Park northwest of Golden.
Firefighters from Jefferson County Open Space and Colorado State Forest Service will be working on two hay meadows near the west parking lot and Ponderosa savannah south of the parking area and north of the Sawmill campground.
Ignition, pending weather conditions, was planned at 9 a.m. with completion anticipated by 2 p.m.
Crews will be on site overnight to manage the burned area. Portions of Mustang, Sawmill and Belcher Hill Trails will be closed during the application.
