LAKEWOOD — Fire officials say arson caused Tuesday’s blaze in a small gym at Bear Creek High School.

Cleanup crews worked Wednesday to remove residue from extensive smoke damage throughout the school at 3490 S. Kipling St.

No classes will be held through Monday, principal Phyllis Emrich said.

“I don’t know where students will be next week,” Emrich said Wednesday. “They will not be at Bear Creek High School.”

Emrich said officials are discussing options for classes. Cleaning and air testing must occur before the building opens, Emrich said. Ann Schrader, The Denver Post
