1908: The Rocky Mountain endurance contest, a 300- mile automobile race, was proposed for an area near Denver. The competition was described as a free-for-all for stripped stock cars.
1958: Leonard Jones built a 12-foot boat in his Willow Street basement, only to find that it couldn’t be removed until he hacked a hole in the basement wall and sought the help of three neighbors, who pushed out the boat “like a cork out of a bottle.”
