WESTMINSTER, Colo.—Westminster police say what may have been a street race between two cars turned deadly when one slid and slammed into another vehicle.

Police say 18-year-old Matthew Herrera was killed when he lost control of his Chrysler Sebring during the drag race and collided with another car in oncoming traffic Friday night. A relative of Herrera says he was 19-years-old and a student at Westminster High School.

Westminster police spokeswoman Stephanie Topkoff says authorities are looking for the driver of the second vehicle Herrera may have been racing who did not stop.

Topkoff says the driver of the car Herrera collided with was hospitalized but later released.
