COLUMBUS, Ohio — Adam Moffat and Robbie Rogers scored to give the Columbus Crew its best start to a season with a 2-1 Major League Soccer win over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night.

Moffat’s goal came in the fourth minute, when Columbus forward Guillermo Barros Schelotto floated a free kick to the far side of the penalty area. Crew defender Chad Marshall headed the ball back into Moffat’s path, and he jumped over a defender to net his second goal of the season.

The Crew improved to a league-best 5-1-0.

Crew forward Alejandro Moreno and midfielder Rogers linked up on the second goal. Moreno’s bicycle-kick pass from midfield gave Rogers time to outpace Wizards defender Chance Myers and get his left foot on the ball at the edge of the penalty area just before he and Myers collided with goalkeeper Kevin Hartman.

The ball then rolled through the penalty area and into the back of the net, giving Rogers his third goal of the season in the 34th minute.
