In case you missed it, there were significant basketball hires the past few weeks. Class 5A Legacy nabbed two of them – Jamie Carey will take over the Lightning girls and Dave Lawrence the boys. There is a Horizon flavor. Carey arguably was a top-10 all-time player for the Hawks last decade before going on to Stanford and Texas. She plays for the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA. Lawrence, who led Horizon’s boys to a state title, also won with the Northglenn girls, thereby becoming the only big-school coach to win titles with both genders. And Mountain Vista hired Bob Wood, who had terrific teams at 3A Buena Vista.
