Terry McAuliffe, campaign chairman for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, believes the Democratic Party will have its presidential nominee in June.

The top adviser said Clinton will stay in the race through the primaries, but added that the party would come together behind a nominee, probably next month after the last elections are held on June 3. That’s when uncommitted superdelegates, Democratic Party officials and lawmakers with an automatic vote at the convention will make their intentions known, he said.

“They’re going to move pretty quickly,” McAuliffe said. “They’re not going to wait.” Until then, “let’s let the voters vote.”

McAuliffe, one of the party’s most prolific money men, rejected the notion that Clinton’s pool of donors would dry up after Barack Obama expanded his lead in this week’s primaries.

“We’re in the heat of the battle,” McAuliffe said.
