EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Kiki Vandeweghe became the Nets’ general manager Thursday, less than six months after being hired as a special assistant to president Rod Thorn.

Vandeweghe, who held the same position with the Nuggets from August 2001 through the 2005-06 season, replaces Ed Stefanski, who left in midseason to become the general manager of the 76ers.

“I hope that I have had some positive influence as to the roster and the direction,” Vandeweghe said. “We need to focus on improving the guys we got.”

Joining Bryant on the first team were New Orleans guard Chris Paul, who was three votes shy of being a unanimous pick, along with Boston’s Kevin Garnett, Cleveland’s LeBron James and Orlando center Dwight Howard.

Amare Stoudemire and Steve Nash of Phoenix were voted to the second team along with San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Utah guard Deron Williams and Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki.

• Pistons guard Chauncey Billups (hamstring strain) will be a game-time decision for Saturday’s Game 4 playoff game against the Magic.

• Bucks guard Mo Williams had surgery on his right thumb and is expected to be ready for training camp in October.
