JAYS HURDLE UNASSISTED TRIPLE PLAY

CLEVELAND — Asdrubal Cabrera turned the 14th unassisted triple play in major-league history, and it wasn’t enough for the Indians to complete a doubleheader sweep against the Blue Jays.

Shannon Stewart hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning, Aaron Hill added a two-run single and the Blue Jays beat Cleveland 3-0 on Monday night to salvage a split of the doubleheader.

Fausto Carmona (4-1) pitched a five-hitter and Cabrera hit a two-run homer in Cleveland’s 3-0 victory in the first game.

Rays 7, Yankees 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Matt Garza pitched seven scoreless innings and Tampa Bay beat nemesis Andy Pettitte (3-4) for its fifth consecutive victory.

Garza (2-1) allowed five hits, walked one and struck out three while holding the Yankees in check with help from three double plays. Only one baserunner, Alberto Gonzalez in the sixth, reached as far as second base against the right-hander.

Rangers 13, Mariners 12 (10)

ARLINGTON, Texas — Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning and Ramon Vazquez hit the game-winning shot in the 10th. Hamilton finished with four RBIs, increasing his majors-best total to 43.

Twins 7, Red Sox 3

MINNEAPOLIS — Livan Hernandez (6-1) rebounded after a rough start to finish six innings, and Minnesota won the four-game series against Boston 3-1.

Angels 10, White Sox 7

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Vladimir Guerrero homered and drove in four runs, Nick Adenhart (1-0) recorded his first major-league victory and Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak. The Associated Press
