Getting your player ready...

First offseason practice and already the Broncos had an upset.

Brandon Marshall participated and Travis Henry didn’t.

Henry will miss the first week of the Broncos’ quarterback camp with a strained hamstring. The Broncos’ running back suffered the tweak while running the final 100-yard sprint in a set of 16 during conditioning last Friday. Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Henry would return next Tuesday.

Marshall, the Broncos’ star receiver, did practice — sort of. He ran routes but was unable to catch the ball because of the serious right forearm injury Marshall received during an off-field incident on March 22.

Shanahan said Marshall should be cleared to start catching passes on June 22, when the team is on break. That means if there’s no setback to Marshall’s injury — which included lacerations to tendons, nerves, a vein, artery and muscles after his arm punctured an entertainment system — he should participate in the Broncos’ final minicamp, July 7-8, and be ready for the start of training camp on July 25.

“It’s ahead of what I thought initially,” Shanahan said. “I was told he could not work out until a month before we went to training camp.”
