DENVER—The attorney for a Denver police officer accused of assaulting a teenager says his client will plead not guilty to the charges against him.

Forty-year-old Officer Charles Porter was charged Monday with felony first-degree assault for an alleged attack on a teenager suspected of consuming alcohol.

The family of 16-year-old Juan “Willie” Vasquez says the teen suffered a lacerated liver, broken ribs and kidney injuries when the officer jumped on his back up to four times.

Porter was arrested May 8th. The incident allegedly occurred April 18th.

Attorney Nathan Chambers says Porter is denying all of the charges he faces.

Chambers says Porter will enter his not guilty plea at an upcoming court appearance.
