SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — More than 100 firefighters were battling a small blaze threatening homes in a Southern California canyon Wednesday. A Forest Service spokeswoman said the blaze near Santa Clarita had consumed 10 acres and was pushed by wind gusts.
Also on Wednesday in central Florida, authorities told residents of about 140 homes to evacuate ahead of a fast- moving brush fire. Officials say the fire near Orlando could cut off a main road and leave residents trapped.
