MEANDER A MASTERPIECE
Garden’s sculpture comes alive
The 26-acre Chapungu Sculpture Park that snakes along the eastern edge of the Centerra shopping center in Loveland was completed last year. But if you’ve not visited to wander the path that meanders through a wild prairie draw, studded with exquisite stone sculptures carved by Zimbabwean artists, Saturday morning is the day to do it. The Nyanhongo family of Zimbabwean sculptors, joined in the U.S. for the first time by their father, Claudio, will open an exhibit at Chapungu Gallery at 10 a.m. Gallery owner Roy Guthrie lead a tour of the sculpture park at 11 a.m.; live African marimba music will flow from the sculpture park lawn from 12:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Info:
SWEET AND SAVORY
Herb guide helps reap delights
Perennial herbs are starting to green up the garden, and their subtle fragrance is already beginning to waft into the kitchen. The Herb Society of America’s “Essential Guide to Growing and Cooking with Herbs” is helping us manage all of that potential, with a dictionary-style approach to the sweet and savory shoots and the dishes they might flavor. First up? A mint chocolate poundcake that calls for a handful of the mint that’s sprouting between the cracks in the patio flagstones. Louisiana State University Press, $29.95
