GREELEY, Colo.—A Johnstown teenager is pleading guilty to her role in the death of her half-sister who police say was beaten during a re-enactment of the “Mortal Kombat” video game.
Heather Trujillo entered the plea Friday to child abuse-negligently causing the death of 7-year-old Zoe Garcia.
In exchange, prosecutors dropped a child abuse count.
Trujillo and 17-year-old Lamar Roberts were babysitting Zoe last Dec. 6 when she died of blunt-force trauma to the head. Authorities say the young girl was hit, kicked and slammed to the floor as the teens reportedly re-enacted the video game.
The 17-year-old Trujillo has agreed to testify against Roberts, who is charged with child abuse causing death.
Trujillo faces 12 years to 18 years in prison when she’s sentenced July 2.
