A robber who hands notes to clerks ordering them to give him money is believed to have struck twice Sunday night in Boulder.
The suspect, believed to be about 50 with gray hair reaching to the middle of his neck, robbed a Starbucks in the 2400 block of Baseline Road at 9:30 p.m., according to Sarah Huntley, Boulder police spokeswoman.
The robber, wearing yellow gloves, wire-rimmed glasses and carrying a red backpack, motioned to the clerk for a pen and paper.
The suspect wrote “vanilla latte” and “the $.” When the clerk wrote that he owed $3.09 on paper, the robber responded in a low voice, “Give me all your money. I’m armed. Twenties will do.”
The clerk gave the suspect money, and he left the store on foot, Huntley said.
She said a man matching the same description entered a King Soopers in the 1600 block of 30th Street at 10:45 p.m. and wrote a note to a clerk, reading: “Give me the money — I am armed.”
He did not display a weapon, and when the clerk told him there was no cash in the register, and the suspect left, Huntley said.
