Jason Giambi has been using a tiger-striped golden thong to help him break out of a hitting slump. He also has shared it with some of his New York Yankees teammates to help them during various slumps. But San Francisco Chronicle columnist Scott Ostler questioned how well the thong is working, considering the Yankees just crawled out of last place in the American League East on Sunday and Giambi is hitting .230. “Maybe Giambi’s thong isn’t all it’s cracked up to be,” Ostler wrote.
